INSTRUCTORS: The training offered by Entertainment Fireworks, Inc. to pyrotechnicians is among the best available anywhere.  It is the most comprehensive program of professional fireworks training offered in the Western United States.  Larry Mattingly, Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Training, and, Ken Julian, Vice President of Operations, have presented training seminars at the Pyrotechnic Guild International and the Western Pyrotechnics Association, as well as groups of Fire Service personnel, bomb techs, and pyrotechnicians across the Northwest.  Larry's 50 years in display and SPFX, and Ken's 10 year "chapter and verse" knowledge of the regulations, provide a great opportunity to learn.

Rules and regulations for display operations.   Historically, since the majority of display fireworks accidents are the result of working around mortars, special training is given to pyrotechnicians in mortar line safety. Mortars must be approached carefully, with proper stance, and attitude. If you follow all safety rules and regulations, accidents can still happen, but you have alleviated and reduced your exposure.

Entertainment is our business, and this session covers how to make a show entertaining. We focus on applying your show to the particular site. All lessons are taught in our headquarters warehouse, which is converted to a classroom for these informative sessions. We continue to cover safety throughout training with this session focusing on crowd safety. With our customized choreography software reports, our technicians will blend the mood and tempo of the music with size, color, shape and effect of the shell and other pyro materials, with precision timing for the very best in entertainment.
Pyro Class #3

Session 3 deals with electrical firing and show management skills. We discuss and teach more than just being a technician. A pyrotechnician needs to be a manager most of all. Show Management requires our technicians to excel in dealing with people - the customer, of course, and the crew. They learn to assign tasks by each individual’s skills.

The basics of electrical display work is covered including mortar box layout and design, cue numbering and shell assignments, mortar angles, and more. Hands-on training is given on firing system performance and operation. Safe handling and use of electric match is discussed during this session.
